Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Puntr ("Puntr", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information when you use our website and mobile app (the "Service"). Puntr is a last-team-standing tipping platform where puntrs join a competition, pick a team each round and try to outlast everyone else. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
Your controls
Who we share data with
Every third party the app uses, what it does, and why. This table is maintained - a service added to the app is added here first.
We do not sell your personal information. Meta and TikTok receive a purchase event (that you subscribed, not what you did in the app) so we can measure whether our ads worked - see the table above.
Retention & age. Delete your account and your profile, picks and messages go with it within 30 days. Puntr is intended for users aged 18 and over.
Who we are
The Service is operated from Australia and handles personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you have any questions, contact us at hello@puntr.app.
Information we collect
We collect the following, all of which is needed to run the Service:
- Account details - your email address; a login credential, which is either a password (stored securely in hashed form by our authentication provider, never in plain text) or a single sign-on (SSO) login such as signing in with Google; a display name; and, optionally, a profile photo or avatar you choose to upload.
- Gameplay data - the competitions you join or run, your entry alias(es), the picks you make each round, and your results history.
- Messages - content you post in a competition's group chat or in direct messages to other members.
- Push notification token - if you turn on notifications, we collect a device push token so we can send you the alerts you've opted into (pick deadline reminders, results, eliminations, chat mentions and game-master broadcasts). You can turn notifications off at any time - see Your controls above, or your device settings.
- Purchase data - if you buy Playr+ or Puntr+, our payment providers (RevenueCat for the App Store/Google Play, Stripe on the web) handle your card or store-account details; we never see or store your full card number.
- Usage and device data - collected automatically via analytics tools, including pages viewed, approximate location (derived from IP, not precise GPS), device and browser type, device or advertising identifiers, and similar diagnostic information.
Puntr does not process entry fees. Any competition buy-in or prize pool run by a game master is arranged privately between puntrs and that game master, outside the Service. From time to time Puntr runs its own promotions with a cash prize that we fund - if you win one of these, we collect the bank account details you provide solely to pay the prize, and we do not use them for any other purpose or keep them longer than needed to make the payment.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To run competitions - record your picks, resolve rounds and show leaderboards.
- To enable chat and direct messages between members of the same competition.
- To send push notifications you've opted into, such as pick deadline reminders, round results, elimination alerts and chat mentions.
- To send you essential service emails, such as confirming you've been approved to join a competition or notifying a game master of a new join request, and - if you opt in - occasional news and offers about Puntr.
- To process a Playr+ or Puntr+ purchase, and to measure whether the ads that led to it worked.
- To understand usage and improve the Service's performance and reliability.
What other members can see
Other members of a competition you're in can see your entry alias, your status (still in or knocked out), and - once a round's deadline has passed - the picks you made. Your email address is visible to the game master who runs a competition you join, so they can manage their members. Your password is never visible to anyone.
Advertising
Puntr shows sponsored placements in the app and on the website. Most are our own promotions. Some are paid placements from sponsors we have sold directly. We record that a placement was seen or tapped, against your account, so we can tell a sponsor how their campaign performed. Sponsors receive totals only - never your identity, your picks or your messages.
Playr+ subscribers never see advertising, and their device never even requests it.
Where a placement promotes wagering, we show it only to someone who is signed in, is 18 or over according to the date of birth on their account, and is in a country the campaign names. That restriction is enforced by our database, not by the advertiser.
On the website we may also show advertising supplied by Google AdSense where we have not sold a placement ourselves. That never happens in the iOS or Android apps, which show first-party placements or nothing at all.
Your privacy choice in the UK, EEA and Switzerland
If you use the website from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we ask before we store anything on your device that is not needed to run the Service. You can agree, refuse, or open Manage options and decide purpose by purpose. Refusing is as easy as agreeing, and the Service works either way.
Until you answer, analytics and advertising stay switched off. You can change your answer at any time from the privacy settings link in the site footer, or clear it entirely through your browser settings.
Everywhere else, including Australia and the United States, the analytics described above run without a separate prompt, as this policy explains.
Cookies and local storage
Some storage is essential: keeping you signed in, remembering your theme and your preferences, and holding a tip you have not submitted yet. Without it the Service cannot work, so it is always present.
The rest is analytics and advertising: understanding which screens get used, whether a feature works, and whether our own ads brought someone to Puntr. In the UK, EEA and Switzerland none of it loads until you agree, as described above. You can clear any of it through your browser or device settings, though clearing everything will sign you out.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all its associated data at any time from within the app (Account › Delete account), which removes it immediately and signs you out. If you can't sign in, email hello@puntr.app from your registered address with "Delete my account" in the subject and we'll verify and action it within 30 days. Deleted competitions are hidden immediately and permanently removed after a short grace period; if you're the game master, deleting your account closes those comps for everyone. Full details: puntr.app/delete-account.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored hashed, and access to your data is restricted by row-level security so members can only see what they're entitled to. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Children
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing hello@puntr.app. You can also ask us to restrict or object to a use of your data, or to send you a copy of it in a portable form.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to a regulator. In Australia that is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). In the United Kingdom it is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). In the European Economic Area it is the supervisory authority for the country you live in.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, give notice within the Service.
