What is Last Man Standing tipping?

Last Man Standing (also called survivor or knockout tipping) is the simplest tipping game there is. Each round you back a single team to win. If they win, you live to tip another round. If they lose or draw, you're knocked out. Players drop off week by week until one person is left standing, and that person takes the comp.

The twist that makes it strategic: in most comps you can't pick the same team twice within a set window. Back the clear favourite early and you won't have them in reserve when you need them later. It turns a simple tip into a season-long chess match, which is exactly why it ruins friendships in the best way.

How a Last Man Standing comp works

1

Pick one team

Each round, back a single team you think will win. That's your only call.

2

Win to survive

Your team wins, you move on. Lose or draw and you're out for good.

3

Outlast everyone

Survivors thin out each round. The last one standing wins the comp.

Why run it on Puntr

Last Man Standing vs full-season tipping

If knockout is too brutal for your group, Puntr also runs classic full-season tipping (called Overall), where you tip every game, earn points, and climb a ladder all season. Plenty of comps run both at once: the ladder for the long game, a Last Man Standing side-comp for the drama. You choose the format when you create the comp.

Set one up in under a minute

Create a comp, choose your sport, set your rules (or keep the sensible defaults), and share the join code with your group. That's it. New players join by code, make their first pick, and they're in.

Frequently asked questions

Is Puntr free?

Yes. Puntr is free to create and join comps. It's a tipping game for bragging rights and never takes bets or handles money.

What happens if my team draws?

That's up to the game master. By default a draw knocks you out, but you can change the draw rule when you set up the comp.

Can I pick the same team twice?

Only after a cooldown period that the game master sets (five rounds by default). This is what makes Last Man Standing strategic.

Which sports can I run it on?

NRL, AFL, EPL, the A-League, the FIFA World Cup, and more. You can also create a custom comp and add your own teams and fixtures.
